Yeah, it's been on every major news site here in Belgium as well. It appears not to be a scam, so you know what to do, guys and gals! I changed your thread to an announcement one, so we're sure no one misses it.

Just out of caution I'd recommend people change their PayPal password if similar to eBay, as the two are often used in conjunction.
Cheers

Is it still safe to login on eBay to change the password though? Now I'm scared...

I changed my password but now I can't log in on eBay anymore. Does it take time before the change is accepted or something? This is all very frightening and reminds me why I don't do my bank things online.

If you have a saved password in there, you'll have to manually enter the new password.

If you have a saved password in there, you'll have to manually enter the new password. I checked in on eBay with my old password the regular way and changed my password via my account. Then I tried to check in again with my new password after I received confirmation it had been changed and now I can't log in. I always log in manually, I don't allow myself to get lazy by having my browser remember the real important passwords for me.

The steps you're meant to go through are these:
>My eBay > change password From here you'll get an email with a link to it >Click the link and you'll get a page where you'll be able to change your password. >Once your password is changed, you log in with your new password >Simultaneously, you'll get a second email confirming you changed your password
Are these the steps you followed? If you did, then I'm not sure what's wrong.

Problem solved. I used my first password change request mail to rechange my password again (sneaky me!). Now I can log in. Thanls for the emotional support. You kept me from breaking down in tears.
