35MM, old school! Thanks, fighting people up front, for ruining my favorite (dinosaur) scene. Otherwise: awesome! I "won" a bag containing snacks and a bottle of wine too, they announced my name before the film started, glad we sat at the back, I felt embarrassed! (Buying a ton of posters pays off, it seems. Plus tickets that support the event.) Tyrannosaurs approve of the goodie bag. The picture of the helicopter arriving at Isla Nublar is mine - it was too dark to get a good shot. And this one's by @yannickenting (found it on Twitter), giving you a better idea of what it looked like. It was over too quick! Jurassic Park never gets old!

35 mil?! Oh my, that is awesome! I guess the only DCPs available are the 3D version then. And you won a price too! That must have been an epic night for you. Too bad I couldn't come...

DCPs? What are those?
It had scratches and lines, and two times the sound failed! Part of the charm, it looked gorgeous!

Because we were sitting in the back, we could hear the projector zoom and whirl. It's called a Cinemeccanica Victoria 8, which no doubt will mean more to you than it does to me. Wasn't Jurassic Park shown in both 3D and 2D in the US upon re-release, though?

I've worked with Cinemeccanica material for two years (different type of projector though, mine was a non-rewind system). Absolutely loved it.
DCPs don't have to be 3D to be digital. All movies are released digital these days. I assume no 35mm prints were produced for last year's re-release. Too few 35mm projectors left is use around the world. The Netherlands is almost entirely digital for example, except for some shows in EYE and this event apparently.
BTW, you can see some DCP boxes under the film spool in the first pic. There's a digital projector (the big black box) next to the old one in the second pic. They do show some movies digital then, which makes it all the more odd JP wasn't among them. Probably because in the Netherlands JP was only re-released in 3D, and this is a 2D only event I suppose?

They brought in this projector specifically for showing Jurassic Park: all the other films were indeed digital. (Yes, it's all 2D.)

Wow, they went through a lot of effort then! Makes me all the more sorry to have missed it...

Wow, they went through a lot of effort then! Makes me all the more sorry to have missed it... The positive response was overwhelming, they are considering to use 35MM more often in the future. (No Jurassic Park then, though, they show different films each year.) I was told, too, that it was complete coincidence I won that prize! I assumed it was because of all the posters I bought, but they just picked my ticket as a winner!
