This looks promising; The Shallows might be a nice addition to the (rather limited) pantheon of decent to good shark films. Hopefully the shark's behavior will be depicted as natural, rather than just a savage beast out to kill whoever gets into the water:

Hopefully the shark's behavior will be depicted as natural, rather than just a savage beast out to kill whoever gets into the water: Fat chance. Most people still don't realize men is much more dangerous to sharks than vice versa. Sharks are rapidly facing extinction, yet movies depicting sharks as evil beasts continue to be made to thrill and misinform people. Very sad. Personally I think this is completely irresponsible movie making in this day and age.

Just went and saw X-Men: Apocalypse. Better than I expected. The negative buzz is largely misplaced.

Sharks are rapidly facing extinction, yet movies depicting sharks as evil beasts continue to be made to thrill and misinform people. Very sad. Personally I think this is completely irresponsible movie making in this day and age. I'm slightly optimistic, though the death scene of the unfortunate surfer seems very brutal, with the shark jumping out of the water. (Which is natural behavior, it's how great whites catch seals at the South African coast). Considering the lead is a surfer too, she might be a little more reflective on the animals inhabiting the oceans. Time will tell. I've finally ordered the NECA Ripley jumpsuit figure. I'd been holding off for a while, but eventually thought "now or never". There's a third figure coming this June or July - the ALIEN3 Ripley. That's a must-buy for me. I might pick up some of the others (Ripley in compression suit, Dallas) later on. EDIT: I walked into my local bookstore after work and checked the comic section to see if they had any of the Fire And Stone comics - they didn't, but to my surprise I found two copies of Delgado's new Age of Reptiles book ( Gods of Egypt?) I looked through it, but wasn't too impressed. I like the original better. Left both on the shelf for other enthusiasts.

'You... are... my... lucky action figure...' Well played! Though I think my lucky/ favorite action figure is the Jurassic Park Velociraptor. It was my first Jurassic Park toy. I still have it, it remains in good condition.

ALIEN: Covenant news! Bloody hell, I promised myself not to get over-exited as Prometheus did not deliver considering the hype that was generated for it... but it does sound pretty good. (I do know that the giant head from Prometheus was rebuilt in Australia . Does this indicate it's a direct sequel to Prometheus? Not much is certain, that's for sure!) www.scified.com/news/michael-fassbender-multiple-aliens-in-alien-covenant

I finally got around to seeing 10 Cloverfield Lane last night, at home. I gotta say... I f$€#|@! loved it!!! Fantastic film. Gives me hope for Hollywood, amidst this ridicolous phase of unoriginal superheroe cinematic excretions that's been flooding the big screen for like 8 years now at a rate of 25 identical movies per year

Some pretty original and daring material amidst all the superhero and Disney live-aciton reboot hype.

Absolutely. I really did love it and I hope to see maaaany more movies in that style. I think J. J. Abrams is awesome. He might have his misses too, but he's, as you said, daring and original. This century's Steven Spielberg! wooot!
I also got around to seeing Interstellar last week, lol. Late to the game. I didn't see it before because I strongly dislike both Matthew McConaughey and, especially, Anne Hathaway, but the movie was fantastic. A total classic. Makes me think Hollywood can still come up with good stuff.
Btw, I'm very eager to hear recommendations in the vein of those two films!
