All time some people say "To collect figures is useless ...", we can ignore them, but sometimes we have right words for these reflexions. When i was in highschool, superficial girls and boy says, buy figures is useless, buy makeup or fashion clothes to be cool. For me, i ignore theses reflexions and i think if collecting toys is useless, makups is useless too...
What did you say in this situation ?

I never really cared for clothes or make up to begin with. I didn't smoke, wasn't really interested in drinking or going out.. At least I put my money in things I can keep with me. I can even sell it again if I wanted to, try that with out of fashion clothes or used make up LOL
Stuff like that also usually has no sentimental value for people whatsoever. So what is more valuable in the end, one way or another?

slightly diff but I've always thought that it was funny how some people say things like 'toys are for kids', yet some of those same people enjoy playing video games (which isn't a bad thing to play games); are games much different from 'toys'? I guess it's different because you use certain skills with gaming. Idk.
Isn't it strange to spend so much on games (if you play games a lot) Isn't it strange to pay so much for alcohol? Expensive Clothing you outgrow/wears out/loses its trend?
Idk. I mean I only scratched a surface of comparing things.
Figures last a while, and make for an interesting conversation piece. The only thing I can think of being a downside is how difficult it would be to store things properly, but that's just with a lot of collectible stuff

My approach would be that it's a hobby that makes me happy; I also collect movies and books because...well I like them, so yeah perhaps buying makeup and fashion clothes makes them happy or gives them some kind of nice feeling, that's fine. Collecting does the same for me so what's wrong about that? About the drinking/smoking I can certainly say that a good chat with friends, a drink and a smoke are a really good way to spend time but I wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars on a bottle of any alcoholic drink or super fine cigarretes. In the end it all comes to what makes you happy, what gives you that feeling, excitement or whatever you wanna call it; if you are a gamer, then play videogames, as ASkywalker91 said it's also fine as is to buy videogames, makeup, clothes, going to the gym, etc. It's a matter of respect to what others do, if someone comes to say "That's childish" "Toys are for kids" or anything the short answer would be "Really? Who asked you? This is my hobby, find yours " hahaha

Oh damn.. I don't even want to know how much we've already spent on games XD But, they are collectors editions whenever I can get my hands on those. From games like the "Tales of" series those are very limited and valuable. I cherish those just as much as any other collection items For movies I do the same when I really like them. Sigh.. I'd kill for a collectors edition from Godzilla.. On the other hand, I already own so many nice things Knowing that, looking at them, feeling them. Things like clothes will never do the same thing for me. However nice they are. Besides, I only wear what I like, regardless of trends. It just means that during some trends I have a hard time finding new clothes to buy

It happens the same way for me, just by seeing them on display when I get home, or taking the whole collection out to see it/clean it/change what's on display makes me feel great! Clothes also don't do that for me XD I wear what I like and is comfortable hahaha but I know some people who really like and enjoy that kind of things like I enjoy mine, so I guess it's all about personal preferences and the respect to them

I tell them it's a long term investment that makes me happy and could do the same to someone when I'm gone. Either that or tell them to fcuk off!

What isn't useless? Probably the only actual USEFUL thing you can buy (besides housing and food and other essentials) are books and trips. But besides that...
It's all just convention and I don't care much for it!

I tell them that I make $ from them and then ask "what are you doing with your life right now?"

It's all just convention and I don't care much for it! THIS is one of the biggest truths! There is a difference between "usefull-needed" and "wanted-liked", same can be asked about many, if not every, hobby out there. They aren't precisely usefull BUT we all have our "useless" hobbies that we all enjoy despite they not being essentials for life

People could do with less clothes, a cheaper car, less and cheaper furniture, etc... And I could do with less JP toys, haha. But I don't wanna! To each their own I say

I tell them that I make $ from them and then ask "what are you doing with your life right now?" Haha! I could also say something as the toys being my shares. They will grow in value over time In most cases at least And in the time in between they make me happy, perfect I'd say.

Theres always gonna be people out there in life thats gonna try to be little the things u do that make you happy..no matter what ur into or u do are say..Some people are of the perspective that what ur doin is stupid or crazy and your not gonna change there minds most of the time. If someone ask im straight up with em bout what I like to do and tell em why I like doin what I do. Some people are just curious. As a kid or student in school ur gonna catch hell for something no matter what thats just the way it is when dealing with other kids. As a aging adult most of the time no body give a crap what ur into.
