Im sure most of u know what the Nintendo Entertainment System was right.. Anyway Nintendo released the NES classic edition plug and play system Friday.. I tried my best to find and buy one of these not only for my collection but I was really looking forward to playing it on my HDMI tv with my son.. Those little bas**rds were sold out before they hit the shelf.. there was people standing in line at midnight at Wal-Mart and at gamestop in the morning waiting to buy one.. they were in super short supply in typical nintendo style and most stores around here only got 3..so most people standing in line didnt get one.... I was one of the unlucky few who did not get ahold of one.. They retailed for $60 and are now selling for around $200 or more and ebay.. damn scappers man I swear they suck.. I still own all my original Nintendo consoles but I was really wanting this to play on HDMI and alot of the games on it I do not have... Now i got to wait even longer til they flood the market..Was anybody else looking too buy one of these.. and did you have any better luck then me? And if so what do u think about it.?

I checked the sites when I Googled the NES Classic. They're all sold out, but at least Best Buy still listed it for $60.00. The other sites were at $250.00 range. I don't even wanna know what eBay's doing NOW, since it's been a bit since you posted this. Why did Nintendo make so little of these? Don't they figure that with fandom culture and all that stuff now, that there's a HUGE market for these things?

Nintendo is notorious for doin this..they do it alot with there new products or special editions. Examples are the Amiibos, 3ds Majoras Mask edition, The wii when it launched.. they do it too drive up demand.. An obviously it worked. Every retailer had it for $60 the prices u see now like on Walmart.com are from 3rd party sellers not Walmart cause walmart like every other retailers is sold completely out.. Nintendo is in the buisness to make money first and foremost. Theyre smart despite what anyone might say... Thats why they still around ..An they make sh** that is actually really fun to play not crap that looks nice and is full of glitches..Theyll flood the market with them eventually and leave the scalpers out in the cold... When u buy Nintendo ur buying quality. I have every Nintendo system from The Nes to the WiiU they all still function like they should and I was hard on a few of them growing up. Ive went through several xboxs and Playstations..they dont hold up over time. The New Nintendo switch is coming out in March and its launching with the new Zelda and a new Mario game... preorders will sell out fast on that console..the hype is already there..

Oh God, I remember the Majora's Mask 3DS stuff. Heck, even when Pokemon X and Y FIRST came out, stores were sold out. If the demand is greater than the supply, then they're essentially losing an opportunity to earn more money. If Nintendo increased their supply, then wouldn't the overly-large demand will equate earning lots of money, wouldn't it? If more supply = the huge demand = tons of profit!

If Nintendo increased their supply, then wouldn't the overly-large demand will equate earning lots of money, wouldn't it? If more supply = the huge demand = tons of profit! They create the demand and use the scalpers as pawns... if they over produced too many out the gate alot of people wouldnt take as much interest and put off getting one and the scalpers wouldnt be trying to buy em all up.. Nintendo creates this competition and demand between scalpers, collectors, and average joes..theres a feeding frenzy that starts when u have this notion of buying something that potentialy sells 3 or 4 times what u paid for it.. The fact that there hard to get and reselling high makes them more desirable by everybody.. Think about it like this If hasbro released a decent rubber trex today and made them in short supply you and me would be trying to fine one desperately before they stopped making em .. and scalpers would be buying as many as they can fine.. The demand would shoot up because we wouldnt want to risk not having one and having to resort to ebay.. On the flip side if they produced millions of them and could be found in plenty everywhere.. our impulse to buy wouldnt be as great and we could easily say to ourselves ill pick it up later second hand cheaper or on sale or something. The company would of lost money because now they would have all this excess stock thats not flying off the shelves.. Because they didnt artificially create demand.. its more profitable to make 10 of something and sell out then it is too make 20 of them and only sell 10.. follow me.. There not gonna stop making em there just gonna keep release enough at a time to ensure they profit from all of them.. Its smart buisness really..

I see what you mean, especially with the rubber rex example. I'd be rushing to get it. Especially after With the success of the past 3 JP toy lines, I snagged every toy I could afford, just to find out I could've taken my sweet time buying most of them. I sort of see things in 3 ways:
1) If something is desirable, sure, the demand grows. But if it's so underproduced, and hence more un-affordable thanks to scalpers, nobody's going to buy it, hence the original manufacturer would get little to no profit. That could be attributed to both the company under-producing toys, and scalpers jacking them up to outlandish prices. For example, I didn't mind paying $50-$80 on a Mosasaurus set (if I didn't have any other choice), but now they go for $300! That's just BS. No one is going to buy that.
2) On the other side of that coin, if toys are overproduced and let's say they turn out to be crap toys, they won't sell. They'll take up shelf space and the stores will mark them down until they sell enough that they have room to put something else there. The Brawlasaurs and Hero Mashers are a perfect example of this.
3) Then there's the "ideal" situation where toys are good, produced in fair amounts, and sold for fair amounts by both stores, and in the odd case, online sellers. Sure, online sellers will try to make some kind of profit, but not going the BS scalper route. To me, an example of this would be the JW Lego. They still stock it very well and price it well in stores. Online, it could be either way; at least that's how it is in my city. So I guess I'm trying to propose some kind of middle ground approach that would benefit both toy companies and consumers: - No overproducing, which would result in little to no profit
- No underproducing, to the point where they miss out on the money they could have gotten instead of the scalpers getting the profits for jacking up prices. That's what I meant by a lost opportunity.
Is there even such a way to meet in the middle? Or is it one or the other in the case of toys?

As soon as a scalper realizes somethings a hot item and alot of it is speculation.. they rush to buy as many preorders and store stock as they can... Because of Smart phones so many people are doin this now so easily that its almost imposible to find a happy middle ground of mfg until sometime after the product has been released.. Even average joes who wouldnt of took no interest in the product but pay attention to whats goin on see the opportunity to make quick flips and get in on the action..Nintendo like most companies dont care who buys the product as long as its selling as fast as they can make em..Smart companies like Nintendo wont overproduced a new product out the gate cause theres no sure fire way to gage how well there gonna sell..so there cautious and like building that demand.. Now that the products been release and they have the demand and can get a better gage on of how many too produced and release at a time.. they will soon start filling out the stores.NINTENDO wont stop making it if its selling.. An Nintendo always makes quality there best known for that.. just like lego.. As for the Mosasaurus I had one I bought for $20 and I felt as though I got ripped off cause its wasnt a quality product.. The problem with Hasbro and Jp is Hasbro never paid attention to there customers and fans in there jp line.. its always the flavor of the month with them..My intentions were to let my mosasaurus set in my collection.. but after I saw they were selling for stupid money I sold mine for a $120 and bought good vintage figures I wanted.. Scalpers buy from other scalpers and drive up prices.. the person who bought my Mosa probly turned right around and relisted it on ebay for $200. If another scalper buys it for that theyll do the same thing.. But dont worry about it cause more tgen likely Mattel will make a mosa and when they do the Hasbro one will fall in price plus the Mattel one will probly be better

I stood in line in 40 degree weather, at times in the rain and wind, from 2:30a.m. until 8 a.m. to get one of these. I love it, but the trouble I had to go through to actually get one sucked.

I was able to get 2 of them, and gave them away as Christmas gifts to my family. Best Buy got a shipment of them a few days before Christmas. I stood in like at 4:30 in the morning in 6 degree weather haha. It was worth it to see the shock on the faces though when they opened the gifts. I still have my NES back from 1989, but I'd still like to add the Classic to my collection when they become more readily available. The biggest complaint about them by far though, is the length of cord on the controller. Also some of the game choices are questionable, such as Super C instead of Contra. Come on Nintendo!

I find it to be a really hard game for me to put down.. I absolutely love it.. I will go ahead and say that it's the best zelda game I've ever played and I've played most. Definitely get ur money's worth plus some with this game... As for the NES Classic Edition.. My ass got lucky as hell and found one in walmart a couple weeks ago a few days after they announced theyre discontinued. Man I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I seen it in the case and wasn't even looking for it..
