Not sure where to put this thread (Mods please feel free to move at your discretion):
I'm doing some research and would like some fan input by all the cool peps here at JPToys.
What are some of the top Jurassic Park (World) related fan communities you visit? These don't have to be solely focused on toys or movie discussion. Any and all elements of JP are welcome. Examples include but are not limited to social media accounts, fan groups, websites, blogs, and news websites.
I don't want to bias the comments here, so I'm going to hold off on sharing mine.
It seems to me that there is not one comprehensive Jurassic website fan created or official. I know one that comes close but from what I can gather it is not very friendly to the users and there are a lot of petty politics involved.
Thanks for for any help guys and gals.
Sincerely,
-AC

There's so few left these days, and even fewer that are still active. Here's my list:
Jurassic Park Legacy - still one of the single biggest, and most thriving JP fan communities out there. Their forums have a wealth of information, as does their main site and encyclopedia.
JPtoys - The biggest JP toy collecting community on the net. What JPLegacy is for the movies and novels JPtoys is for the toys. The largest catalog of JP figures and toys on their main site, up to the minute JP toy news, and a huge wealth of JP toy information on the forum.
Modding Genesis - AFAIK, the most active JPOG community out there. I've never been, but I know that the JPLegacy JPOG forum gets a ton of traffic from users from this site. A lot of incredible breakthroughs in JPOG have been made here.
JW.org - The foremost authority on Jurassic World. They've always got the latest in news and rumors.
Sadly, these are also the most active of the JP fan communities outside of Facebook. Some on Facebook I'd include would be Jurassic Park: The Group, Isla Nublar: The Jurassic Park Fan Group, and the JPtoys FB group. The rest, are sadly either dead or dying. Counted among the dead are JP Database, Dan's Jurassic (moved solely to Facebook I'm afraid, and the FB page is not very friendly), and Jurassica. While, among the dying are TresCom, JP Terror, and InGenNet (which has resurfaced, but it will never be the same).

-Jurassic Park Legacy - It has a lot of information on movies that I couldn't find on other JP sites. I like how they list everything about every movie; books, toys, commercials, trivia, etc. I'm sure there's more that can be added but they have a massive amount of information about the movies. I haven't joined the forum on that site so I can't say if the community is friendly or not.
-(RIP) InGenNet: The World's Largest Jurassic Park Network- This site was very similar to JP Legacy in the late 90s to early 2000s. Had lots of trivia, toys and pictures. You could even download movie clips and I think music tracks. Sadly, it got taken down years ago. I understand there's a new version of it now and I was very surprised to see it, but its not the same as it was.
-JPToys Facebook Group- I think its a good group. I think its more user friendly, in that I think people use Facebook more than forums nowadays. I think its mostly the same users here also on Facebook.
Other than that, I think Dinos4Ever mentioned the rest already like JP Database and JP Terror.

Actually, this is because the owner of JPLegacy modeled his site off of InGenNET after it closed down following the flame wars post JP///.

Could you tell me more about these flame wars? What happened? Is that why InGenNet closed down?

JP/// split the fandom very heavily, especially the Spino VS T. rex portion (which is why Spino Vs T. rex discussions are banned on JPLegacy). Basically, it was just huge, uncivil arguments, that went from forum to forum, InGenNet being the last. JPLegacy was created as a place where everybody who hadn't been driven away from the Internet JP fandom could go without fear of flame wars, bullying, or being disrespected just for their opinions.

I can see why that would happen. Its the same on YouTube videos when it comes to Spino vs Rex. It gets pretty nasty sometimes. JPLegacy was good to do that. This place is good too from what I've seen.

JPL and JPToys are the most active ones that I know of. The others I haven't visited very often.

JPL and JPToys are the most active ones that I know of. The others I haven't visited very often. Yeah this seems to be the consensus. It seems a lot of the news and discussions are shifting to social media and often get lost in the static. Who remembers the old days of just checking out one to two sites to get your news lol? -AC

I would say JPLegacy has one of the largest and most active forum communities in the JP Fandom. If you want to discuss anything from the movies, games or rumors, chances are someone has made a thread topic about it. The active community helps a lot, as members are always willing to share what they have found on the forums.
Jptoys- a wealth of information on all Jurassic Park Toys. My first stop for information on what new Jurassic Merchandise is available and usually has detailed information on where it can be found. Also I really love the catalog of older JP toys and it has really helped me in my collecting efforts.
Scified Jurassic World site- has a semi-active forum presence I am aware.. Mainly a news site, but has -very- high facebook 'like' ratio.

Sadly, anytime you get rabid fans of anything together cliques and Bitchy-Little-Girl-ness (h/t to the great Sam Axe) will inevitably emerge... look at how Eurobricks and a few other LEGO forums regularly purge anyone who isn't a happy little all-is-wonderful-here Kool-Aid Drinker, or at the Star Citizen community... hell, look at Star Wars pre- vs. post-Special Editions, never mind the prequels or Jar Jar Abrams. Or even us re JW and its lacking merch offerings from Hasblow...
Inevitably, unless careful precautions are taken any community involving great passion will see those passions turned on other members and tear itself apart--look at the big Everybody v. Everybody Else Balkanization that's been tearing the Republicans apart this year in reply to The World's Biggest Longest Trolling being delivered by The World's Most Successful Con Man. (I cite this not to play politics, but just because it's an example I know well--I can't comment across the aisle because I don't know enough of Democrat internal politics to speak with any confidence.)
TL-DR, I believe the phrase the pros use is "Fracture Mechanics".

No worries, Diamondback: I'm not implicating you or anything like that at all. I'm just posting this comment as a friendly reminder to anyone who reads your post and then wants to plunge down that slippery slope. Thanks in advance.
