Absolutely. I really did love it and I hope to see maaaany more movies in that style. I think J. J. Abrams is awesome. He might have his misses too, but he's, as you said, daring and original. This century's Steven Spielberg! wooot! I also got around to seeing Interstellar last week, lol. Late to the game. I didn't see it before because I strongly dislike both Matthew McConaughey and, especially, Anne Hathaway, but the movie was fantastic. A total classic. Makes me think Hollywood can still come up with good stuff. Btw, I'm very eager to hear recommendations in the vein of those two films! Wasn't a big fan of Interstellar. As for recommendations, have you seen Ex Machina already?

I thought that was good, and funny too!

"Interstellar" was an amazing cosmic trip. Easily one of the best science fiction movies ever.
"The Martian" was also a fun movie. I really enjoyed that one too. Like Neelis said, it was funny, but it also didn't shy away from being intense too. Matt Damon was perfect for the role.

You can add Midnight Special to your list of recent awesome Sci-Fi flicks. Saw it last night and was quite surprised and enamoured by it. Very Abrams-y, very early Spielberg-y. Plus a delicious mystery plot. Could also have been a great addition to the Cloverfield universe, or...
...the Twilight Zone.

I think it's playing in the "arthouse" cinema here as well! My NECA Dog ALIEN is waiting for me at the post office. I'll pick it up Saturday morning.

But it stands upright, unlike the Dog Alien in the movie. Can you pose it in its correct quadruped pose?

Interesting enough, but in the movie I recall Ripley describing the Runner as bigger than any Xenomorph she had seen before.

Just saw Warcraft. Not very good, I'm afraid. But then, I'm not a Warcraft fan. Maybe it's better to them. Or worse...
